The City of London Freemen’s School is set in 57 acres of Ashtead Park in the heart of Surrey. Our magnificent surroundings are enhanced by the outstanding facilities we have to offer. A Georgian mansion built in 1790 by Sir Thomas Wyatt, the Main House remains the focal point of the School. In addition to incorporating the Music department and the Dining Hall, the Main House hosts many school functions.
Kemp House is a modern, purpose built facility that provides a base for the Junior School. It incorporates a number of well equipped classrooms, a multimedia facility and the Junior School Library. Adjoining Kemp House there is a large Adventure Playground, funded by the Freemen’s School Association and used by all of our Junior School pupils.
Named in honour of the former Headmaster, this modern building incorporates well equipped classrooms, I.T. & multimedia rooms, the Careers Centre and the Senior School Library. The Haywood Centre provides an ideal base for the Upper School.
Situated in the converted stable block, there is a large Sixth Form Common Room and private & small group study facilities.
Our magnificent grounds provide ample space high quality rugby, hockey and cricket pitches. In addition there are two all-weather pitches, one of which is floodlit, with a variety of uses. There are also tennis courts, cricket nets and athletics facilities. We have a large, modern, multi-purpose Sports Hall complex that incorporates a multi-activity fitness suite. The 25m indoor swimming pool has recently been modernised and refurbished and is much in demand by local swimming clubs.
The School benefits from the modern, professionally equipped Ferndale Theatre and an adjoining larger auditorium, the Senior Assembly Hall. For music, pupils can access a number of rehearsal spaces, individual tuition rooms and a music technology suite in the cellars of the Main House.
Those areas of the curriculum requiring specialist facilities are well served. From modern laboratories and workshops in the Science & Technology Centre to well equipped studios in the Art & Design Centre, pupils are provided with the best environment possible in which to learn.
There is a Girls’ Boarding House and a Boys’ Boarding House that allow you to make the most of the magnificent environment of Ashtead Park and the outstanding facilities offered by the School.
