City of London Freemen's School

Extra Curricular Activities

Whether it is at lunch time or after school there is a wide range of extra curricular activities for pupils to get involved in.  Right across the School from Form 1 to Upper 6 there are no excuses for having nothing to do.

The Sport and Performing Arts activities available are covered elsewhere and the choice does not stop there.

In the Junior School there are over 30 different clubs and activities to choose from.  These range from Art to Young Investigators, from Flower Arranging to Karate and many more. Why not download the Summer 2011 Junior School Activities for a sample of what's on offer?

In the Senior School the choice is just as wide with clubs such as African Drumming and Greenpower Racing running side-by-side with more traditional pursuits.  The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Young Enterprise attract large followings every year – with many achieving nationally recognised awards. Why not download the Spring 2011 Senior School Activities for a sample of what's on offer?

It is also possible to explore the world outside school through trips to destinations such as Kenya, Quebec, South Africa and the French Alps.  Some of these are directly curriculum-related, others are sporting or musical, but all teach vital skills of independence and self-reliance and help to foster a spirit of adventure.

The Central Committee, made up from representatives of all year groups in the School, allows the “pupil voice” to be heard; it also has a number of affiliated clubs such as the Debating Society (see the Debating Society's web page) and a fledgling Amnesty International group.

Each year the pupils of the Junior and Senior School’s each choose their own charities to support. All the pupils are then involved in organising and participating in a number of events across the School year to raise funds.  In 2009/10 Help for Heroes, The Tadworth Children's Trust,  Shelterbox, Surrey Crossroads Charity, and International Aid for Kenya have all benefited from the School’s fundraising efforts.

No-one has time to twiddle his or her thumbs at Freemen's – there is something here for everyone.
