Admissions

The admissions process plays a vital role in helping you, your son/daughter and the School to be assured that Freemen’s provides the best option for your son/daughter.

The first stage of the process is to register your son/daughter with us. If you are unsure how, or even when, to do this you should refer to the Registering section.

Once registered, your son/daughter will normally be invited to take an entrance or screening test at the appropriate time. Most of those taking a test will also be invited to attend an interview. More information is available in the Tests & Interviews section.

If an offer of a place is made it will be after the results of the tests and interviews are known and a report has been received from your son's/daughter's current school. In the case of Year 9 and Sixth Form entry this offer will be conditional on performance in future examinations.

We are a very popular school and, for some year groups, registrations significantly exceed the number of places available. It is useful, therefore, to be aware how many places we normally have available.

Year 3 (7+)

There is a three Form entry with up to 20 places in each form.

Year 7 (11+)

Pupils may enter the School at 11+ at which stage there are four Forms of up to 20 pupils.

Year 9 (13+)

There is a further intake at 13+ and the total number in the year group rises to around 100.

Year 12 (16+)

A number of pupils join the School at this point.  Applications for places are considered individually.

All Other Years

In other year groups places are filled as they become available.
